July 11 2011 lecture

I made a copy of each of the problems in figure 7.4. I gave my daughter and my son a copy and I had one as well. We each tried to solve the problems on our own and then together. We figured out the center problem with the nine dots, talk about thinking outside the box. The solutions were actually not difficult at all after looking at the answers. I must have a one track mind because with the match sticks I tried every way I thought possible and came up with only a headache. The candle box was not what I was thinking either. I guess I need to sharpen up on my critical thinking, and problem solving skills because I didn't do so well. Hope you all had better luck then I did. :(
